Sewers vs. Sewists

If you have read many of my blog posts, you may have noticed that I refer to people who sew as “sewists” rather than “sewers”.

I choose the term “sewists” because the term “sewers” can be pronounced two different ways. “Sew-ers” or “Sue-ers”. “Sue-ers” of course being the pipes that drain waste water! Not the most flattering term for people who create wonderful works of art with their sewing machines!

I decided that “Sewists” (closer to “Artists”) would be my term of choice. Unfortunately, I’m not sure if Google sees the difference.

Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.
