Sewing and Craft Storage

Sewing Room Storage Container With Drawers

Sewing Room Storage Container With Drawers

I have this wonderful little storage box in my sewing room. It actually mounts right on the wall. The little drawers are about 2″ x 3″ and about 8″ long. The drawers are clear and I’ve labeled each with its contents. The drawers are large enough to hold:

  • packages of twill tape or bias tape on their edge
  • spools of thread vertically
  • tailors chalk still in their bubble wrap
  • small rolls of seam tape or iron-on hem tape
  • bias tape makers
  • button hole cutter and tiny cutting mat
  • pill bottles
  • extra blades for rotary cutters

With 18 drawers in all, this handy little storage cabinet stores all kinds of tools and do-dads for sewing or crafting. I don’t know where Mom got this but I have seen similar ones in various hardware stores.

I have another with much smaller drawers. Because sewing and crafting stuff is so little, this one comes in handy too. I keep in it:

  • snap buttons (use drawer dividers to keep all the different parts in the same drawer)
  • jeans buttons (and the “nails” that hold them on)
  • thimbles
  • sewing machine bobbins, feet, and other parts
  • glue sticks and hot glue sticks
  • all kinds of other stuff that’s too small for the bigger drawers.

Every one of these that I’ve seen can mount on the wall with just a couple of well-placed screws (try to hit the stud if you can). This way they are out of your way, not taking up shelf or table space but still very accessible when you need something.
