The Grey Jacket – Petite Plus Princess Seam Jacket Pattern 202

I decided I needed a grey jacket to add to my wardrobe. Grey is such a great neutral color and can be worn with so many of the other colors I like and already have in my wardrobe and fabric stash.

I wanted a particular color of grey though. I wanted something medium dark, great quality, and with a touch of rose in it. Since I’m plus sized, I prefer fabrics that have a bit of stretch in them as well. The jacket I wear the most in my wardrobe is a dark brown wool and fits me great. If I could find the right fabric, I’d use this same pattern to make the grey one.

I went into the fabric store, fingers crossed and it turns out that I was having a lucky day.

I found grey stretch wool fabric in the perfect color and weight and it was on sale! It was meant to be!! I purchased enough for the jacket and a pair of trousers. The clincher was when I also found the perfect lining fabric with horse bits (appealing to the horse-lover in me) and the grey in it matched beautifully. Not only was the lining fabric also stretch, it was also on sale! What a great day. I purchased that too.

When I got home, I realized the grey wool was much wider than I realized in the store so I might have enough to do a skirt or, definitely a matching vest. I should have bought a lottery ticket that day as well. 😀
